Judy (Laurent, Junion) Bawcom, 75, of Tempe, Arizona, died August 31, 2016. Judy was born February 20, 1941 in Algoma, Wisconsin, the third child of John and Laura Laurent. Growing up in Door County, Judy was proud of her Belgian ancestry. Judy embraced life and enjoyed it to the fullest in spite of the bumps along the road. Married first to Dan Junion, she braved her husband’s illness and raised seven children. After this path, she got to know her best friend and partner, Harry Bawcom. Married on March 11, 1985, they spent 31 terrific years working, traveling and finding pleasure in family and friends. Their adventures included flying, hiking, sight-seeing and travel in the states and abroad. Amid all these activities, there was time for family too, often phrased by Judy as “chaotic joy.” Judy was known for her care and concern for others expressed in charitable works. Judy was a blood and platelet donor recognized for the many gallons she donated throughout her life. As a member of the St. Vincent De Paul Society for over 25 years, Judy found joy in helping with the distribution of Thanksgiving baskets and working in the warehouse. She would always remember the intentions of others in prayer and daily mass. Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Laura and John Laurent, her first husband, Dan Junion, her niece, Candy Pitro, and her son-in-law, Joe Jurasko. Judy is survived by her husband Harry; seven children, Theresa Jurasko, Pam Ruiz (Jim), Steve Junion (Diane), Laurie Estrada (Ralph), Ben Junion (Pam), Ann Mowatt (Keith) and Dan Junion (Jessica); a sister, Pat McCauley (Dr. Tom) and two brothers, Ken Laurent (Gerry) and Tom Laurent (Ginny), 17 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 8th, 2016 from 5:00-8:00 pm with a reading of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm at Richardson Funeral Home, 2621 S. Rural Road, Tempe, Arizona.
