Brent Wayne Dowd

Brent Wayne Dowd, 47, passed away on October 3, 2018 at his home in Gilbert, Arizona. He was born on February 19, 1971 to Robert and Esther (Palacios) Dowd. Brent grew up in Lakewood, California. He graduated from Artesia High School in Lakewood, California in 1989. After high school he worked for Disney for a few years. He then owned his own business route with Pepperidge Farm Cookies, following in his father's footsteps. He then moved to beautiful Arizona and worked for General Dynamics Missions Systems. In Brent's 10 years with GDMS, he was directly responsible for ensuring that the United States Coast Guard could stand the ready for Search and Rescue Operations, through his diligent and selfless work supporting the Coast Guard's mission of saving lives. Brent's expertise in Information Technology supported the Coast Guard's mission day in and day out. Brent was a unique individual who's upbeat and positive nature was infectious and was only eclipsed by his desire and willingness to help others. Brent loved his family dearly. Anyone who knew him, knew his daughters were his everything and he dedicated his life to them. He was the best dad, hands down. He had a love for Disney and, of course, Star Wars! He should have had stock in Starbucks since he went there all of the time. He was smart, funny, loyal, loving, selfless, and a hard worker. Brent was preceded in death by his mother, Esther Dowd. Brent is survived by his two daughters, Kaitlyn and Madison Dowd of Gilbert, Arizona; his father, Robert Dowd of Gilbert, Arizona; his sister, Carey Silverston of Gilbert, Arizona; and his niece, Emma Silverston of Gilbert, Arizona; and his nephew Easton Chavez of Gilbert, Arizona. A Celebration of Brent's life will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2019 at 3:00 pm at Richardson Funeral Home, 2621 South Rural Road, Tempe, Arizona. Interment will take place on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 12:00 pm at Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 South Western Ave, Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
