Dale Dalton Zimmerman

Dale D. Zimmerman, 59 of Phoenix, AZ died Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at John C. Lincoln Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ. Dale Dalton Zimmerman was born April 10, 1958 in Britton, SD to Byron & Rosemary Zimmerman. Dale graduated from Moorhead Tech in Culinary Arts & Science. He went on to work as a chef for the Hyatt, Princess, & Phoenician resorts in Scottsdale, AZ. Dale was a strong man with a bold attitude. If he deemed you as one of his friends he would go to the end of the earth for you. He always showed his true passion in the kitchen. Food was his world. He could create dishes unheard of by most and make them taste delicious. He made it a point to find someone special and to teach that person everything he knew. His spirit remains in those he mentored in his kitchen of life. From the time he was 4 yrs. old he never met a stranger and would strike up a conversation with anyone, even as he was walking down the street as a child. We would stop and wait for him to do his talking! He was a wordsmith, always inquisitive, & always had a story or joke to tell. He especially enjoyed fishing & also pheasant & deer hunting. He is survived by his mother Rosemary Stieha; his son, Ryan Elwood; sisters, Iris Truesdell & Lynn Stieha; brother Alan; niece, Katherine Truesdell; great-nieces, Astacia & Makayla & many many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, brother Mark Zimmerman, & his brother-in-law Willie J. Truesdell. A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Oakwood Cemetery, 6595 Highway 32, Lisbon, North Dakota. Richardson Funeral Home, Tempe, Arizona and Armstrong Funeral Home, Lisbon, North Dakota are compassionately serving the family.
