Henry “Hank” Gurrola Arredondo, age 79, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2017 at Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas, Nevada. Hank was born to Alejandro and Josefa Arredondo on November 5, 1937 in Tempe, Arizona where he lived most of his life. Hank is a veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served his country for seven years. He attended Tempe High School and received his Master of Education from Arizona State University. In his early career, Hank focused on education and public broadcasting. He then pursued entrepreneurship and was the proud owner of several bars in the Tempe and Phoenix area. Later he obtained his commercial real estate license and successfully sold many bars and restaurants in Tempe and surrounding areas. He loved to travel with his wife Karen Sue Smith Arredondo. Henry is pre-deceased by his beloved parents Alejandro and Josefa Arredondo; his half-brothers Emilio Silva Arredondo and Michael S. Arredondo; his half-sister Alejandrina “Hondy” Arredondo-Correa, and his beloved wife, Karen Sue Smith Arredondo. Henry is survived by half-sisters Gloria Arredondo-Salazar, Aida Arredondo-Millanes; brothers Daniel Arredondo, Alejandro “Alex” Arredondo, Joe Arredondo, Paul Benjamin “Ben” Arredondo, and Richard “Rick” Arredondo; sons Jeffrey Arredondo and Mark Arredondo; and daughter Andrea Jill Brooks. He also leaves behind grandchildren Brittany Brooks, Jesse Brooks, Maxwell Arredondo, Dylan Arredondo, Logan Arredondo, Paige Arredondo, and Jason Arredondo; as well as his beloved pet Charlie. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Mark Arredondo and his family for taking the very best care of Hank over the last year. We would also like to recognize the staff of Nathan Adelson Hospice. Their dedication and effort to provide compassionate care to Hank was a heartwarming blessing. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 10 at 10 am at Richardson Funeral Home, 2621 S. Rural Road, Tempe, Arizona 85282.
