Linda Ann Shackle

Linda Shackle, 65, beloved wife of Ronald Shackle, passed away on November 18th, 2017 in Chandler, AZ after a long illness with pancreatic cancer. She fought a brave and valiant fight and showed great courage, dignity, and grace as she waged her battle against this terrible disease. Linda was employed at the time of her death with Arizona State University as a Science and Engineering Librarian. She held this position for thirty-five years and loved ASU and her fellow co-workers. Many holidays were spent with the librarians and she and Ron considered them their extended family in AZ. Linda held a Masters Degree in Library Sciences and her greatest joy was assisting students in locating necessary materials for their studies and research projects. She was active in many state and national library conferences throughout the years and her presence will be sorely missed. Prior to this position, Linda was a librarian at Virginia Tech where she met Ron on a blind date where he also was employed. They were inseparable from that day on and married that same year, coming to Arizona immediately thereafter. Linda loved Arizona and had a passion for reading and for horses. She also enjoyed gardening in her yard with native plants. Linda was born and raised in Webster, New York and is predeceased by her mother Elaine Nufryk. She is survived by her husband Ron of 35 years of Phoenx, AZ, her father Peter, her sister Marybeth, brother John, sister-in-law Jenny, nephew Jason, goddaughter Vicki and extended family of Webster, NY and the surrounding area. Linda is also survived by her brother-in-law David and sister-in-law Elly of Salisbury, MD. Her sister Marybeth, best friend Jenny, and goddaughter Vicki gave Linda their steadfast support during her illness and were a blessing to Linda and the family. Linda’s curiosity and love of knowledge will serve her well as she travels in her new journey and her spirit is soaring and will always be remembered. A Celebration of Linda’s life will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 7pm with a viewing at 6pm at Richardson Funeral Home, 2621 S. Rural Rd, Tempe, Arizona. Burial will take place on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 1pm at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in Linda's name be made to the Arizona Humane Society. Richardson Funeral Home, Tempe, Arizona is compassionately serving the family
