Martha Bengtson Obituary

Martha Susan (Gianelli) Bengtson, 75 of Pinetop, Arizona passed away peacefully on November 24, 2018 in Phoenix, Arizona. She was born on March 11, 1943 in Portland, Oregon to Frank and Eleanor Gianelli. The family moved to Phoenix in 1945 and then she was a life-long resident of Arizona. She attended St Francis Elementary School, Central High School and finally Northern Arizona University. She was a loving, care-giving person who always extended herself to help others and had a strong faith in God. Martha was a member of St Mary of the Angels Parish in Pinetop. She enjoyed spending time with family, vacations to the beach in California, and quality time in Pinetop before moving there full-time in 2015. She enjoyed organizing tailgating get-togethers at ASU football games and was an avid Sun Devil fan. She was a 42 year member of the White Mountain Country Club in Pinetop and always treasured having lunch with family and friends on the club porch overlooking the golf course. Martha is survived by her husband of 54 years, Fred, children, Keith (Tracey), Dan (Alma), brothers, Michael (Carol), Paul (Ginny), David (Susan) and her six grandchildren, Tianna, Andre, Cody, Lexie, and IB. A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 pm, at Richardson Funeral Home, 2621 South Rural Road, Tempe, Arizona. Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 9:30 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 2121 South Rural Road, Tempe, Arizona. Interment will immediately follow the funeral mass at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, 2300 West Van Buren Street, Phoenix, Arizona. In lieu of flowers, Martha's family is requesting memorial contributions in her name to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 East Flower Street, Phoenix, Arizona 85014. Richardson Funeral Home, Tempe, Arizona is compassionately serving the family.
