Roger D. Bindner, the son of Evelyn (Streff) and Barney A. Bindner, was born June 13, 1939, in LeMars, Iowa. Roger graduated from St. Joseph High School in Granville, Iowa, and continued his education at Iowa State University and Drake University Law School.  On June 10, 1961, Roger was united in marriage to Ann G. Larson in Granville, Iowa. The couple lived in Des Moines, Iowa before moving to Paullina, Iowa in 1967. They retired and moved to Spirit Lake, Iowa, in 2007.  Roger worked as an attorney for over forty years and served in a leadership capacity on several community boards and organizations. He was a member of the Iowa State Bar Association, O’Brien County Bar Association, Milford Kiwanis Club, St. Joseph Catholic Church, and Emerald Hills Golf Club. He also served as president of the Okoboji Woods Condominium Association and was always eager to welcome new owners and be involved in association business and improvement. Roger had a gift for making conversation with everyone he met.  Roger was passionate about golf, boating, trains, art, and telling stories. He shared and passed on his love for these interests to his children and grandchildren. He was extremely proud of their achievements. Family was always a priority for Roger, a legacy he learned from his mother and father.  Roger passed away March 14, 2018, at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center in Gilbert, Arizona, at seventy-eight years of age.  He is survived by his wife, Ann Bindner; son, Todd Bindner (Beth) of Eagle, Idaho; daughter Kristine Faust (Kent) of Paullina, Iowa; daughter, Jamie Van Horn (Steve) of Waukee, Iowa; ten grandchildren; sister, Linda Sorensen (Lynn) of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; brother, Tim Bindner (Lynn) of Alton, Iowa.  Roger was preceded in death by his parents.  In lieu of flowers, we are asking memorials be directed to the Bindner Family. Memorials will be used to help create a common area with barbecue/picnic amenities to benefit resident families and friends at Okoboji Woods on East Lake Okoboji. Roger was very passionate about the Okoboji Woods community and served as president of the association for years. We are hoping to honor his memory in this way. Memorials may be directed to Bindner Family 24094 187th St, #10 Spirit Lake, IA 51360.  Richardson Funeral Home, Tempe, Arizona and Turner Jenness Funeral Home, Milford, Iowa are compassionately serving the family.
