William J. Chauvin, Sr., 72, of Tonganoxie, Kansas, died Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Friendship Village, Hospice of the Valley in Tempe, Arizona. Bill was born November 4, 1944, in Kansas City, Kansas the son of Robert and Ruth Chauvin. He attended Blessed Sacrament grade school and graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1963. He worked for Certain-Teed for 46 years, retiring in 2009, and was a member of the Teamsters Union. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his wife, Linda, with whom he enjoyed 38 wonderful years of marriage until 2007. Bill was a dedicated father, husband, grandfather and brother. He was a hard worker, prankster and lover of telling jokes. He loved spending time with family and friends, fishing, and enjoying a cold one. He was stubborn to the end. He gave himself to others and seldom, if ever, complained. His smile and his presence will be forever missed but never forgotten. He is survived by a son, William J. Chauvin, Jr. (wife Laura), his loving grandchildren, Hillary, Hayden, Hannah, and Holly, two sisters, Barbara Chauvin and Susan Chauvin, two brothers, Dennis (Debi) and Michael (Cindy) as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, October 27 at Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, Kansas. A Funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 2203 Parallel, Kansas City, Kansas and burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens 701 N 94 St, Kansas City, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Richardson Funeral Home, Tempe, Arizona and Porter Funeral Home, Kansas City, Kansas are both compassionately serving the family.
