Carl Francis Peterson was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on December 23, 1969 and died at home in Phoenix, Arizona on April 2, 2018. Carl spent his first ten years in the Philadelphia area before moving to , Washington in the late 1970's where he grew up. In his life Carl was an artist, creating batiks and pencil sketches of friends and family. After high school he was a commercial fisherman in Alaska and Russian waters. He then worked as a rough and finish carpenter, fiberglass and metal fabricator. He completed training as a commercial deep sea diver working on underground construction projects. When he moved to Tempe, Arizona 7 years ago he changed careers and worked as a mobile crane operator throughout the southwest and western United States. He will be remembered by all as a cheerful friend, kind listener, helpful workmate and Facebook poster. Many people followed Carl on Facebook for his selection of funny animals, extreme vehicle situations, stunning nature photos and thought provoking quotations. He is survived by his son Liam Russell Peterson, Liam's mother, Mindy Gilbert, his father Russell and Hilary Peterson of Longboat Key, Florida , mother Evalyn Bean and Ron Smids, of Redmond Washington, his brother Eric Peterson of Tempe, Arizona his sister Kirsten and Grant Smids of Kenmore Washington, his niece Evalyn Lasseter, and nephew Justin Clark also of Kenmore Washington, his step brothers Paul Simmons of Annapolis Maryland and Brad Simmons of Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Gatherings of remembrance will be held in Tempe, Arizona and Seattle, Washington. Later this summer his ashes will be scattered in the Puget Sound near his beloved grandfather, Francis Bean. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Liam's educational fund. Please contact any member of the family for specific information regarding Liam's educational fund.
