Casey Garrett Zinger, 36, passed away on December 24, 2020 at Carl T. Hayden Veterans’ Administration Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ.  Casey was born on August 30, 1984 in Phoenix to Jon and Sherri (Toler) Zinger of Tempe, AZ. He grew up in Tempe and attended Marcos De Niza High School. Shortly afterwards, he joined the United States Army. Casey proudly served his country as a Military Police Officer and was honorably discharged in 20

07 having attained the rank of  Specialist.  Following Casey’s military service, he turned his lifelong love for automobiles into a career as a mechanic, becoming a Toyota Certified Expert Technician. Casey was happiest under the hood of a car. He lovingly called it “wrenching.” From an early age, Casey loved spending time at the family cabin on the Coeur d’Alene River in Idaho. He could be found there trying to nurse a broken-down Ford Fairlane back to health, stepping on wasp nests, or pushing one of his brothers into the river. He enjoyed the remoteness and rugged beauty of northern Idaho. He was a fixture on family road trips.  Casey was an avid fan of the Arizona Cardinals. He faithfully watched every game, no matter how painful.  Casey was preceded in death by his daughter, Chloe Elizabeth, in 2006. He is survived by his parents; six siblings (Joanna Hinderliter (Scott) of Peoria, AZ; Jonathan Zinger (Tamanika) of Tempe, AZ; Joseph Zinger (Amy) of Gilbert, AZ; Jennifer Dageforde (Jon) of Phoenix, AZ; Kyle Zinger of Pinehurst, ID; and Kurtis Zinger (Beth) of Broomfield, CO); eleven nieces and nephews; and his loyal service dog, Remey.  We weep for you, not only because you left us too soon and we will miss you terribly, but because we know you are finally reunited with your precious “Chloe Bear.”  Services are pending. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Wounded Warrior Project.   Richardson Funeral Home, Tempe, Arizona is compassionately serving the Zinger family.
