Donna Ledger Obituary

Donna (Maragliano) Ledger (wife of Brandon Ledger, deceased), died May 6 from carcinosarcoma ovarian cancer, after a year long battle. Her immediate family, daughter Lawton Jackson (husband Dan), children Cohen and Merrick and son Clarke Ledger (wife Heidi) and children Arlo and Lou were able to be with her in hospice. Her sister Joanne Van Steenbergen and brother Allen Maragliano (wife Lynne), sons Nick and Mike were also there to offer comfort and support in her last days. She received calls and texts from her best friend since the 7th grade, Kareen Matthews, and many other cherished friends and family. While other women pursued work "outside the home," Donna chose to work as a homemaker. She had a talent for creating a true home surrounded by beautiful art work, comfort, organized spaces, good food, and family. In her first home of her own after Brandon passed in 2010, she created a family photo wall that completely covered one large wall. Donna had carefully and lovingly collected, copied, and scoured for just the right picture frame to match each cherished photo, adding the first initial of each of her children and grandchildren to the wall. She then wove a tapestry of her family history, celebrations, and memories. The wall became a representation of who Donna is and what she was proud of and loved the most; each frame incapsulating and insulating moments of Love. People were drawn to Donna because she was easy to talk to...she listened. She had a quiet, strong strength. She had an observant, perceptive nature. She was non judgmental and compassionate. She cast a reflection on those in her family and those connected to her family, that made them want to be equally kind. It was her gift that she gave freely. Where a beautiful soul has traveled, there are many memories left behind. We will move through life making more photos of our history, celebrations, and memories. You will be forever with us, centered in our spirit.

The Ledger family encourages all family and friends to familiarize yourselves with the symptoms of ovarian cancer, this disease goes undetected due to our lack of understanding when symptoms first arise. Take care.
