American Veteran 04

Henry "Hal" W Logan III

January 8, 1943 ~ November 23, 2019 (age 76)

NAVY VETERAN/ENGINEER. Henry W. Logan Ill died somewhat peacefully at the age of 76. He was raised in a suburban middle class neighborhood in the Northeast where he attended local public schools. Post high school he received a chemical engineering degree from a technical school in upstate New York. Mr. Logan was commissioned in the U.S. Navy in June of 1965 and honorably discharged in the summer of 1971. During that time he served 4 years on a destroyer and a year at the Pentagon. This experience formed what became a lifelong belief that the Federal Government is wasteful and incompetent. Given this opinion he believed there should be as little of it as possible. Despite the self-appointed, so-called "best and brightest" doing exactly the opposite throughout his lifetime, he remained mildly optimistic and upbeat if perhaps a touch cynical.  He was employed full time for 21 years and 4 months by the American subsidiary of a London based chemical company. By far the highlight of his work experience was receiving a little over 23 years of consecutive monthly pension checks. Post retirement, Mr. Logan puttered in his workshop, purchased old rusty tools to fiddle with and drank copious quantities of English beer.  He is survived by Donna Logan, his loving wife of 36 years, daughter Mary Wulfman of Montrose CO, son David Logan of Boston MA, stepson Ted Barham IV and stepdaughter Kristie Barham both of Seattle WA and two grandchildren.  A celebration of his life will be held in February. Disposition of ashes is scheduled for an undisclosed time and place.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in Henry’s name to Chandler United Methodist Church of Chandler, AZ.  Richardson Funeral Home, Tempe, Arizona is compassionately serving the family.
