James (Jim) R Donaldson, 59 of Gilbert, Arizona passed away at his home on June 23, 2021. He was born on April 13, 1962 the son of James and Virginia (Grant) Donaldson in Milford, Connecticut. He served his country proudly as a member of the United States Navy where he attained the rank of Command Master Chief and received an Honorable Discharge. He served active duty from 1983 until July 1992, and then Active Reserves from 1992 until his retirement in 2013. He also served 25 years working full time with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. With DHS he rose to the position of Supervisory Immigration Enforcement Agent and Deportation Officer. He was a valued member, served as a Flight Officer in Charge of ICE Air Operations and he was very proud of his 100% safety record. His job took him all around the world and he was honored to work closely with foreign-based attachés to maintain diplomacy. In his personal time, he enjoyed traveling to new places and trying out new recipes in the kitchen - his homemade soft pretzels are already missed. He was enthralled with history, constantly reading new books or watching the history channel, and was always ready to share his wealth of information. He enjoyed being around those he loved, and was a wonderful father, grandpa, husband, mentor and friend to many. Jim is survived by his wife Tammy, his four children, Jason, Jamie, Daniel and Miranda, and his 3 grandchildren Bailey, Jaxon and Brooklyn. Graveside services, with full military honors, will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 11:15 AM at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, California.
