Jane A. Boye entered heaven on the night of April 1, 2021 following a brief but vigorous fight against cancer. She was born on January 4, 1949 in Davenport, Iowa and raised in Bettendorf, Iowa on the banks of the Mississippi River. She earned a Bachelors degree in English at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls and a Masters in Guidance and Counseling at the same institution. Jane's career began at Safford High School, Safford, AZ as guidance counselor. She then worked at Hayden Library at Arizona State University. She was a faithful and active member at Christ Church-Lutheran in Phoenix. It is there that she met her husband Rev. Gary Boye. They were married at the church on April 14, 1985. Jane successfully completely the colloquy program for teacher of The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod and was commissioned in February, 2002. She served several Lutheran schools along the Front Range when the Boyes lived in Colorado from 1995-2005 and also served elementary and secondary Lutheran schools in the Valley from 2005-2013. When Gary retired in 2013, Jane also retired. Jane and Gary were blessed with two sons, Matthew Joel born in 1987 and Peter Joshua born in 1989. The family followed where Gary's ministry took him--to Chicago; Victoria, TX; Eden, TX; Denver, CO; and finally Tempe, AZ. Jane was an avid reader and championed children's literacy by volunteering several years for Experience Corps. She also quilted at home and with church quilting groups. She read her Bible daily and joined Bible Study Fellowship in Tempe. Jane was a fierce prayer-warrior. She loved the sunshine, heat and dry climate of the Southwest as well as the smell of sage after the occasional rain. Preceding her death were her parents Albert and Betty Matousek and her brother Jimmy who died in infancy. She is survived by her husband Gary of Tempe; their older son Matthew and his wife Cara of Queen Creek, AZ; and by their younger son Peter and his wife Grace of Bellflower, CA. A "Service of Victory of Eternal Life" will be conducted on Friday, April 9, 2021, 11 am at Christ Church--Lutheran, 3901 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix. Richardson Funeral Home, Tempe, Arizona is compassionately serving the Boye family.
