Janet Cox Obituary

Janet Lena (DeSimon) Cox passed away in Chandler, Arizona on June 6, 2021, surrounded by love. She was born on February 20, 1942 to Anthony and Doris (Larsen) DeSimon in Tooele, Utah. She graduated from the College of Southern Utah, where she met and married Roddy Cox, and worked as an elementary school teacher before moving to Tempe and raising four children: Lee, Matthew, Elizabeth, and Ann. A talented homemaker and cook, she excelled in making her family's home lovely and welcoming. Janet had a deep love for books, chocolate, animals, antiques, nature, and travel. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and gave decades of quiet service to her church community. Her greatest joy was finding and capturing beauty, and her children are now comforted by the many examples of her remarkable talent as an artist in her home.
Janet is survived by her children Lee (Don) Preston, Matthew (Sharon) Cox, Elizabeth (Jeff) Nielson, and Ann Cox; her sister Karma Lee Barlow; and many beloved grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. A memorial service will be held Friday, June 11 at 10:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Tempe Stake Center, 2707 South College Avenue, Tempe, Arizona 85282, with visiting hours beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will immediately follow the funeral services at Paradise Memorial Gardens, 9300 East Shea Boulevard, Scottsdale, Arizona. Janet adored flowers, and the family would gratefully accept memorials to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Tempe Stake Center, 2707 South College Avenue, Tempe, Arizona 85282. Interment will immediately follow the funeral services at Paradise Memorial Gardens, 9300 East Shea Boulevard, Scottsdale, Arizona. Richardson Funeral Home, Tempe, Arizona is compassionately serving the Cox family.
