Obituary

Jean-Claude (Claude) Louis Harbulot passed away unexpectedly on July 10, 2020 in his home in Phoenix, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne. He is survived by his two daughters, Eve-Marie Schottland and Maryvonne Harbulot, his grandchildren, Delphine, Thomas, Isabella and Illiana. He is also survived by his brother, Christian Harbulot.  Jean-Claude was born on September 21, 1940 in Stenay, France, son of Jean-Jules Harbulot and Marie Caroline (Brusini) Harbulot. His formative years were spent in the turmoil of World War II, which would forever influence his life choices. He would always talk about the liberation of his village by the US Soldiers with a lot emotion and admiration. His desire to become a doctor, even though planted early on in his brain by a maternal voice, was motivated by his desire to help others.  He received his Medical Degree from the Université de Paris, France. He started his internship in 1969 in Nancy, France after getting married to the love his life, Yvonne Francine Leroux whom he met in 1956. Claude had a very successful Family Practice in Soissons, France. His success was based on his patient care philosophy focusing first and foremost on relationships.  After almost 30 years of practicing, he decided to retire and moved with his wife to Phoenix, Arizona, where his younger daughter was already residing.  In 2012, he was finally able to accomplish one of his biggest dreams and became a proud US citizen.  Claude enjoyed his retirement in the Valley of the Sun. He volunteered for several years at the International School of Arizona where his wife was a French teacher. He was fascinated by the beauty of the Arizonan landscape and night skies. He had a passion for astrophysics as well as poetry and painting. His favorite activity however was to spend time with his grandchildren who he adored. He loved playing chess with them, teach them Latin and engaged them in debates about world events.  He will forever live in the hearts of those he touched.  Due to COVID-19, a celebration of life service will be held at a later time.   Richardson Funeral Home, Tempe, Arizona is compassionately serving the Harbulot family.
