Jean Fountain Wickham

Jean F. Wickham went to eternal rest at home on 9:39pm, Sunday, January 9, 2022, at 91 years of age. Jean was kind, loving, formidable, funny, striking, and very generous. She wouldn't think twice about giving you the shirt off of her back.  An only child, Jean grew up in rural Massachusetts, where she acquired a love of animals, especially the family horses and dogs. She graduated college with an R.N. degree and joined the Air Force and became a flight nurse. Not long after joining the USAF, Jean met and married Lt Col. Harold R. Wickham, USAF, a career pilot, and that allowed them to travel the world as a family, finally settling in Tempe, AZ in 1971.  Together Harold & Jean raised six children: Carole, Mike, Scott, Jackie, Trish and Mary. Jean is predeceased by Harold, daughter Carole Price, and Mary.  Jean is survived by Mike, Scott, Jackie, Trish Monsegur-Wickham and four grandchildren who called her "grandma"; Kali Johnson, Madison McKenna, Matthew Monsegur, and Sarah Monsegur, along with nine (step) great-grandchildren: Kai, Ren, Cerina, Haru, Riser, Cambri, Ember, Milo, and Sonny.  Ahhhh and her beloved dog "Sugar".  After raising her six children, Jean continued her nursing career as the school nurse at McClintock H.S. in Tempe serving 2000 students. Jean was a member of (OLMC) Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, where she volunteered time as a certified catechist. She also assisted at OLMC school activities as well.   Deeply loved by her family and many friends, Jean will always be remembered for her generous spirit and love of the Lord.  A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 from 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM, with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 6:00 PM, at Richardson Funeral Home, 2621 South Rural Road, Tempe, Arizona.  Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Thursday, January 27, 2022, Jean's birthday, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 2121 South Rural Road, Tempe, Arizona.  Interment of Jean's cremated remains will immediately follow the funeral mass at 11:30 AM,  at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1500 East Baseline Road, Mesa, Arizona.
