Karla Jean Young

Karla Young went to be with her Lord on Monday, September 14th, in Tempe, Arizona at the age of 66. Karla was born on June 8th, 1954, in Worthington, Minnesota to Myron and Lois Anderson. Followed by the birth of her two brothers, they moved to Minot, North Dakota where Karla and her younger siblings enjoyed the frivolity and indulged in youthful adventures playing in the neighbor’s farms raiding his watermelon patch. Later in her life, she moved to Phoenix, Arizona to begin a new chapter when she started a family, welcoming the birth of her two children. Courageous, Faithful, and Determined. Karla was all of these and more. She found joy and solace in her community, friends and church. As an avid motorcyclist and free spirit, she enriched the lives of all she met. Her life was forever changed in August of 2010 when she survived a near-fatal motorcycle accident. She cherished the outpouring of love and support from friends and family who gave her the determination to fight on. Karla was a member of King of Glory Lutheran Church, sister of Beta Sigma Phi, and in the midst of a memoir recalling her second chance in life, titled "When You Can't Be There For Yourself - The Power of the Human Connection." Karla Young is survived by her children Steven Palmer and Melisa Stewart, her mother Lois Smith, and her brothers Gary and Eugene Anderson. A Celebration of Karla's life will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Richardson Funeral Home, 2621 South Rural Road, Tempe, Arizona. Richardson Funeral Home, Tempe, Arizona is compassionately serving the Young family.
