Lavona Lea Hagedorn, 81 of Spirit Lake, Iowa passed away on January 8, 2019 at Hospice of the Valley-Eckstein Center, Scottsdale, Arizona. Lavona Lea (Thackrey) Hagedorn, the daughter of Edward and Bernice (Myrick) Lloyd Sr., was born September 29, 1937 in Milford, Iowa. She graduated from Spirit Lake High School. She lived in California for a time but lived most of her life in Spirit Lake, working for McQuays, Ben Franklin and eventually retiring from Wal-Mart. Lavona was a member of the United Methodist Church and enjoyed bird watching, traveling and her most favorite activity were family gatherings. She is survived by two daughters, Cindy Gibson of Spirit Lake and Cheri (Charlie) Falcone of Cave Creek, Arizona; two sons, Terry (Sandy) Thompson of Worthington, Minnesota and Gary Thompson of Spirit Lake; five grandsons, Brian (Trina) Gibson of Hobe Sound, Florida, Bradley (Jeri) Gibson, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Brandon Gibson of Arizona, Josh (Katherine) Thompson of Scottsboro, Alabama and Austin Thompson of Spirit Lake; two great-grandchildren, Mallory Gibson and Erik Gibson; nieces, nephews and cousins. Lavona was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Ed Lloyd Jr., Stanley Lloyd and Calvin Lloyd; two sisters, Teena Gilbert and Linda Eaton; son-in-law, Eric Gibson. A memorial service for Lavona will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, January 14, 2019, at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm on Sunday, January 13, 2019, with the family present from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Spirit Lake, Iowa.
