Nancy Lee Bell was born April 5, 1953 in Deerfield, Massachusetts. She passed away peacefully at Rose Court Assisted Living in Phoenix, Arizona on June 13, 2020. Nancy was also known by her middle name “Lee” by her close friends and family, since her mother was also named Nancy. During her early life she enjoyed playing with her sisters, close in age, and cousins who lived nearby. She was a feisty, fun-loving and independent child and carried these traits to adulthood. Nancy was able travel the world with her family, living in Colombia, Peru, and Malaysia when her parents taught school abroad. During these formative years she learned to speak spanish fluently, and continued to speak it throughout her life. Nancy was a fiery Aries always forging ahead. As a young adult, 19 yrs of age, she moved to Arizona, first arriving in Tucson, but then to Phoenix where she made her home and fell in love with the Superstition Mountains. Nancy was also a musician who liked to play the guitar, and played in a band with colleagues from ADEQ, performing at the former Patriots Square Park, which is now part of CityScape. Nancy was an animal lover who always looked out for neighborhood cats. She had an independent spirit, an eye for fashion, and a sweet-tooth for soda and chocolate. Nancy loved westerns, enjoyed creating collages and would often arrange and rearrange her furniture to bring herself comfort. Nancy is predeceased by her parents Nancy B. Bell and Robert Bell. She is survived by her son Justin Simon and his wife Marilyn Murphy, her older sister Pam B. Haman & husband Bruce of West. Townsend MA, her younger sister Roberley Bell & husband Jim Morris of Amherst, MA, and niece Robin H. Tasca & husband Jeff of Paxton, MA. At a date to be determined, Nancy will be interred in Cedar Park cemetery of Hudson Valley, New York. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arizona Humane Society Richardson Funeral Home, Tempe, Arizona is compassionately serving the Bell family.
