Richard Andrew Murphy, who was born and raised in New York, passed away at his Chandler Arizona home, surrounded by his loving family on September 13, 2020. Richard is survived by his wife Theresa, his daughters Patricia and Stacy, son-in-law Eric, grandsons Reece and Cole Fischer and his furry buddy, Charlie Brown. We are blessed and honored to have had Richard in our lives. Richard served 6 years in the Air National Guard as a medic. He enjoyed a long and fulfilling career in managerial and consulting capacities with IBM for 25 years. Richard then began a successful consulting business, which allowed him to travel internationally. Richard was a car enthusiast who rebuilt street rods and corvettes, restoring them to their prior beauty. He knew his way around a garage and could fix or build anything. His hobby of working on cars brought him much joy throughout his life and showcased his amazing talents. Richard was a loving husband, father and world’s greatest papa. His Irish eyes were always smiling, his kind heart always giving and he made those around him keep laughing with his dry sense of humor. Our lives will feel empty without him, but our hearts will overflow with our memories and love for our Richard. Private family services have been held. Should friends and family desire, a remembrance may be made to the American Heart Association. Richardson Funeral Home, Tempe, Arizona is compassionately serving the Murphy family.
