On December 20, 2022, at 12:11pm, Ron Hamm transitioned to his heavenly home surrounded by family following a courageous battle with a rare form of cancer. Diagnosed with kidney stones in March 2022, they found a mass on his pancreas and Ron underwent the Whipple surgery on April 20. They found a tumor that was later identified as ampullary cancer, stage 3b. Ron battled this all year and fought hard against pneumonia and other respiratory illnesses in early December. It was just too much and our Ron, having done everything God asked him to do in this life, passed peacefully where he was no doubt joined by many families and friends for a huge celestial party.
Loved by all, Ron will forever be remembered for his kindness, generosity, huge heart and many acts of service and of course his ability to say the exact right thing – no matter how inappropriate or irreverent – yet all with great humor.
Born in Rochester, New York, Ron lived there most of his school years, before moving to Arizona in 1990 where he started his new life of service and recovery. Ron devoted his life to helping others with sobriety and many life issues. No task was too hard, and he met any and all challenges with his trademark grace and indelible sense of humor.
Surviving Ron are his life partner, Kate and their three magnificent children, Mia Claire, Liam Richard and Sarah Elizabeth. Ron was so proud of his children and how kind, fun and smart they are. Ron is also survived by his mother Rita Liddy and her husband, Gerry Liddy, best of friends and life influencer of Ronny. Also surviving Ron are his three brothers, Rick, Mike and David and many honorary sisters and brothers, cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews as well as countless “brothers from another mother”, friends, mentors and sponsors. Ron’s life was full, and he lived every second to the maximum.
There will never be another Ron Hamm, and those of us who were lucky enough to know him will forever have a hole in our hearts, but we will be consoled by remembering his funny antics, stories, facial expressions and ability to make everything better.
