Shane Balderston Obituary

Shane Balderston passed away unexpectedly on July 12, 2021, at the age of 50. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska, moved to California at the age of 2, and was raised in San Luis Obispo & Los Osos. He graduated from Morro Bay HS where he excelled at his love of sports by playing on the football, basketball & baseball teams every year. He became a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, LA Lakers & Dodgers with his loyalty continuing throughout his lifetime. Shane spent his career working as a Senior Computer Networking Engineer for Intel, Global Crossing & Level 3. Because of his outstanding ability to solve computer problems, there were many times others would turn to him for solutions. At one point in his career, the CEO of Level 3 flew to his office in Phoenix, AZ especially to meet him. From an early age, while on family vacations at Bass Lake, Shane found he loved to fish. As an adult, he would take his boat to the lake often and spend the day on the water. Once, while on a personal fishing expedition off the coast of Mexico, he was surprised when the big fish he was reeling in turned out to be a hammerhead shark. Morro Bay was one of his all time favorite places to come back to. He loved to take peaceful walks in the sand at Morro Strand State Beach and sit quietly to watch the waves at sunset. Shane’s warm & loving nature led him to always be surrounded by many life-long friends. People were drawn to him because of his caring attitude & great uplifting sense of humor. It seemed others were always laughing, smiling & having fun when they were around him. He had a true heart for helping others, and took time to write meaningful poems whenever his heart led him. He is survived by his daughter, Allison (Michael) Maglothin; sons, Tyler & Dillon Balderston; daughter, Brittney Halgren; former wife and best friend, Julie Balderston; parents, John & Donna Balderston; brothers, Brian (Kate) Balderston & David (Chelsea) Balderston; grandchildren Aubree, Camden, Oliver, Addy & Ayden.
