Obituary

Shon Paul Quannie, age 48, of Phoenix passed from his life to his eternal life on December 30, 2020. He was born on July 30, 1972 in Flagstaff. Shon was a 1990 graduate of Mingus Union High School in Cottonwood and made all-conference for the football team playing the position of center. He received his BS in Industrial Design from Arizona State University in 1997. During his time at ASU, he was a member and past president of Omega Delta Phi Fraternity, Epsilon Chapter. Shon met his wife, Danielle, while he was a student at ASU and working at Mouse Graphics in Tempe. They were married in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico, on November 6, 2003, recently celebrating 17 years of marriage together.

Shon was an entrepreneur and business owner of 4X Studio, LLC where he provided graphic design solutions for a variety of for-profit and not-for-profit organizations nationwide. He was also an associate faculty member at ASU, teaching a senior level Industrial Design class through the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. Shon participated on various committees of Hispanic and Native American organizations through the years. Most recently serving on the executive board committee of Hopi Education Endowment Fund (HEEF).

Shon enjoyed travel throughout the U.S. and 5 other countries. Native American art and design were a passion for him. Shon especially enjoyed trips to Acoma Pueblo, NM to visit beloved family members. He was a proud supporter of ASU Football, especially enjoying tailgate parties before the games with his friends and family. Shon was also an avid movie watcher and loved caring for the family dog, Maci.

Preceded in death by father, Floyd Quannie; grandparents, Merrill and Mary Lou Quannie. He is survived by his wife, Danielle Quannie; mother, Audry Smith (Wayne Smith); grandparents, Johnny and Geneva Ruiz; siblings, Autumn Smith, Charlie Smith and Christopher Smith (Ashley Stence) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family and many friends. Shon will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hopi Education Endowment Fund (HEEF) or Fatty Liver Foundation in Shon’s memory.
