Steven Gonzales Obituary

Steven Rosales Gonzales passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 17, 2020. He was born in Phoenix, Arizona on December 5, 1972, to Gloria Jean Rosales and Stephen Gonzales, who both preceded him in death. After his mother died, he lived with his paternal grandmother, Maria Louisa Gonzales, who also preceded him in death. He is survived by his sisters, Lori Barcklay (Jasen) and Cathy Bolian. Steven (Steve) leaves behind his wife, Julie, his best friend and companion of 29 years, and his three loving daughters, Corinne, Casey, and Cameron. Steve and Julie met in 1991, while both working at the Tempe Public Library. They were married on January 3, 1997, in Mesa, Arizona. His wife and daughters were his biggest source of pride. He loved them immensely, and their love for him was returned in abundance. His most honored job was that of provider. Steve attended Gilbert Elementary/Junior High and Gilbert High School, in Gilbert, Arizona. He played baseball in high school and then at Menlo College, in Atherton, California. His love of baseball continued as he and Julie cheered on the Arizona Diamondbacks, attending as many games as they could. Additionally, he had a fanatical love of golf. He played often and was known for his passion, humor, and love of the game. In 2007, Steve proudly became a journeyman lineman, a job requiring stamina, strength and commitment. He worked many dangerous situations, including several hurricanes around the country. His many previous coworkers, and current coworkers at Arizona Public Safety (APS) will miss his friendship and support. Steve leaves a legacy of life-long friendships, loyalty, dedication, fun and laughter. He will be greatly missed by his wife and daughters, who gratefully hold countless treasured memories and looked forward to many more. Any plans for a Celebration of Life gathering will be announced in the future. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Tee of Phoenix, an organization introducing golf to young people. Richardson Funeral Home, Tempe, Arizona has compassionately handled arrangements.
